Location

Barnes Common

I am going to film my runaway preliminary task at barnes common. This is because I want use a place that looks like a forest to make my preliminary task more mysterious and creepy

Here is where I am going to film my task:

My Story Board: Runaway

For this story board i used the program www.storyboardthat.com

This was a very good story board program to use as it made the story board come to life.

I made a story board because I wanted to plan in advance what positions I want the actors in and what shots i am going to do. This is because I didn't want to waste the actors time and also it will help me when I'm filming.

Trailer

This trailer is about a girl that runs away.

By watching this it has helped me see the emotions of the girl and also the way she acts when she is about to runaway.

This has helped me come to the conclusion of how i want the girl to act in my video

Here is the trailer below

My Mind Map

I used the program www.text2mindmap.com to make this mind map.

Synopsis

Runaway

This idea revolves around two girls. My idea is for them to meet in a strange place like a forest or an alleyway this hopefully will increase tension in the video. The first girl will then tell her friend that she is planning on running away and the friend will try and stop her. When the friend walks away the viewers will not know if the friend has convinced her not to runaway. Until at the end I am planning of having the girl walking away quickly with sounds of sirens in the background, this will then lead the viewers guessing that she decided to runaway.

Shot Reverse Shot

Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character and then the other charater is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes they are looking at each other

Video Example

The 180 degree rule

The 180 degree rule is a filming guideline that particicpants in a scene should have the same left - right relationship to each other, with filming only taking place within the 180 degree angle in which this is maintained in a conversation

Video Example

Match on Action

Match on action is an editing technique for continuity editing in which one shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot.

This is the same example but in a video

Preliminary Exercise

Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with who she/he then exchange a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.
